3. Add and Edit Frames in Table of Contents

Frames added to a Table of Contents will appear in student Portfolios while editing, and optionally in their final portfolio. Frames can include instructions for the student, information about the course or assignment, files for added instruction, and forms for the student to complete. This lesson will walk you through the process of adding frames, and will teach you about the various options available to you.

Step 1: Select the Table of Contents Section

Step 1: Select the Table of Contents Section

1. Click on the section of the Table of Contents where you would like to add or edit a frame.

2. Click on the Add Frame button. If there is already a frame on the section, you can alternatively click its Edit button.

Step 2: Add a Heading, Question, and/or Instructions

Step 2: Add a Heading, Question, and/or Instructions

The 'Add Frame to Page' pop-up window will appear, equipped with authoring tools. The first two options are:

3. (Optional) Add a Heading: Headings are optional, and therefore not required for the creation of a Frame. A Heading will provide a title/heading for the Question and/or Instructions.

4. Include in Portfolio: If a Heading has been entered, it will (by default) only appear when editing a Portfolio. If you would like for the Heading to be included in the final Portfolio, ensure that this option is selected.

What is the difference between a Question and Instructions?

What is the difference between a Question and Instructions?

Using the various text editors, you can add one of, or both of the following options:

  • Question: A Question will appear in the Portfolio while editing, as well as in the final Portfolio. Ideally, an Administrator would add a question to a Portfolio and the student's response would follow underneath in the final Portfolio.
  • Instructions: Instructions will only appear in the Portfolio while editing. This is intended to provide further instruction to the student without compromising the flow of their final Portfolio.

Step 3: Optionally Add a File to the Frame

Step 3: Optionally Add a File to the Frame

Files can be added to frames for additional resources. Any type of file can be attached to the frame, so long as it is on your school's list of accepted file types in Anthology Portfolio. If you would like to add a file to a frame that you are creating, you will need to enable to Upload File option. To do this:

5. Click the Save button.

Once saved, the 'Save' button will turn into an 'Edit' button.

6. Click the Edit button.

If you are editing a frame, not creating one, the option to add a file will already be available.

Scroll down to the Files (Optional) heading:

7. Click on the Attach File button.

8. Select the method for uploading a file to Anthology Portfolio:

  • Add Files: This feature enables the user to select a file from their local hard drive.
  • Choose from Dropbox: This feature enables the user to select file(s) from their Dropbox account.
  • Choose from OneDrive: This feature enables the user to select file(s) from their OneDrive account.
  • Choose from Google Drive: This feature enables the user to select file(s) from their Google Drive account.

Alternatively, simply Drag-and-Drop your file onto the window.

Choose the method that you would like to use below:

The file(s) that were selected will appear in the uploading window.

9. Optionally Remove a File from the list of file(s) that you would like to upload.

10. Click on the Done button to begin the upload.

Step 4: Optionally Add a Form to the Frame

Step 4: Optionally Add a Form to the Frame

The only type of form that can be attached to a table of contents is the Assessment/Portfolio form. To attach a form to a frame, use the drop-down menu available below the Forms heading.

The All Required Questions... option will be automatically selected. This will force all required questions in the form to be answered prior to submission. If deselected, respondents can leave required questions blank and still submit.

If you cannot locate the correct form, it may not have been made visible.

To learn more about how to make an assessment/portfolio form visible, please visit the Distribute a Form help page.

Step 5: Optionally Add Tags to the Frame

Step 5: Optionally Add Tags to the Frame

Tagging is a feature that allows you to designate items throughout your Anthology Portfolio site as one category or another. Administrators can use the Tag Reporter to view all system items with like tags.
