Rubrics Import from Blackboard into Portfolio— February 2025
We’re excited to introduce a new functionality in Portfolio that allows users to effortlessly pull rubrics directly from Blackboard into Portfolio. Previously, importing rubrics from clients involved a highly manual process, consuming significant time and increasing the risk of user error—especially during busy periods like preparing for a new term.
With this enhancement, Portfolio administrators can now streamline rubric imports by directly integrating with their institutional LMS. This eliminates manual entry, reduces potential errors, and ensures rubrics are updated efficiently.
This improved integration enhances the implementation process and aligns with customer needs, making it easier for institutions to adopt and utilize Portfolio effectively. These updates are key steps toward simplifying workflows and driving success for administrators and their teams.
Notes:
• If the rubric is not compatible with Portfolio, it will not show up on the list option
• User can adjust the rubrics without impacting the rubric within Blackboard – adding features that are available in Portfolio to the rubric (example: Linking Outcomes to the rubric or peg mapping etc.)
• Blackboard API integration needs to be Enabled in Portfolio for it to work: More information on how to configure the Blackboard API can be found within Portfolio (Site Settings> Additional Settings > LMS Integration Settings > Blackboard API: Enable Blackboard API integration) or Portfolio Support Site..
How does it work:
1) Menu > Curriculum > Assessment Instruments
2) Connect to Blackboard
3) Select “Import Blackboard Rubrics”

- Modal pop up “Blackboard Rubric Selection”

a. Search by Term: Drop down with all available BB Terms

- Option to Search by Name: User will need to type in the exact name of the rubric to be displayed

- Select the Blackboard Rubric (s)
- Import > Receive a message “Redirecting you to the imported Blackboard rubric”
