Types of Assignments

Assignments are created by assessors and assigned to their own students by way of Course Groups. Unlike assignments and tasks created within program portfolios that are setup by local Chalk & Wire administrators, this type of assignment is created, attached to a program or course Table of Contents section, linked to a specific assessment instrument, and sent to students by the assessor themselves. When submitted, these assignments are automatically returned to the assessor for assessment.

NOTE: In order to create an Assignment, you must first create a Course Group. For information on creating a Course Group, please visit our Create a New Course Group support documentation.

Standard Assignment

Standard Assignments are assigned to individual students. Once the assignment is completed, students do not have to select an assessor. The submission will automatically be sent to the assessor who created the assignment.

Collaborative Assignment

Collaborative Assignments are assigned to groups of users, so that multiple users can work simultaneously within the same assignment workspace environment. The submission of a collaborative assignment will automatically be sent to the assessor whom created the assignment when the students click 'Submit'.

Manual Assignment

Manual Assignments are used to enter scores for student work, which may have previously been assessed elsewhere. When an Assessor creates a Manual Assignment, it bypasses the student submission process, and allows the Assessor to complete the assessment immediately.
