1. Create Prerequisite Resources
1. Create Assessment Instrument(s)
Assessment Instruments that will be associated with Field Placements must be created before setting up the Field Placement. Any type of Assessment Instrument can be used for Field Placements, but they must be set to the 'Manual' regime. You can provide the Assessment Instrument to the candidate as a self-evaluation or to the Institutional Advisor and/or Site Assessor as a regular assessment when setting up the Field Placement.
To learn how to create an Assessment Instrument, please visit our Create an Assessment Instrument workflow help pages.
2. Create Journal Templates for Hours Tracking
The Field Placement feature allows candidates to track their hours using a Journal Template. You will need to create this hours tracking journal template before setting up the field placement.
To learn how to create a Journal template, please visit our Create Journal Templates for Hours Tracking help page.
3. Create Form(s)
Form(s) that will be associated with a Field Placement must be created before setting up the field placement. You can provide the form to the candidate, the institutional advisor and/or site assessor to complete when you are setting up the Field Placement.
To learn how to create a Form, please visit our Create a Form workflow help pages.
Disregard the form distribution help page in the workflow. You will distribute the form by adding it to the Field Placement.
Only the Survey form type can be used for Field Placements.
4. Add Site Assessors/Stakeholders as Guests
If your Site Assessors/Stakeholders have already been added to your Chalk & Wire site as guests in the past OR if they do/will have assessor accounts in your Chalk & Wire site, you can skip this step.
If the Site Assessors/Stakeholders do not work for your institution, but instead are working with/supervising the candidates at the location of the field placement, they do not need assessor accounts in your Chalk & Wire site in order to monitor and assess candidates. You can create "Guest" accounts for them by adding them to a department contact list.
To learn how to add Site Assessors/Stakeholders as Guests to your Chalk & Wire site, please visit our Add Contact or Guest help page.
5. Create Candidate-Advisor Pairings
Each student entering into a Field Placement must have an Institutional Advisor, with whom they are paired. Their Advisor will oversee the Field Placement for its entire duration and review it once it has been completed.
To learn how to create Candidate-Advisor pairings, please visit our Create Candidate-Advisor Pairings help page.
